Intro to Networks/Security for Managers and Supervisors is a 6-day course designed for non-technical management personnel who must interact with their technical staff. The course introduces the basic terms and functions of networks. Hands-on lab activities help to reinforce what you have learned. Lectures will discuss the data flow from an internal desktop computer inside the organization to an external server. Emphasis will be placed on the resources required to adequately secure those communications. Practical examples will be used to illustrate common threats. The ramifications of failing to secure your network resources will be examined through a case study presentation.

This course is designed to provide the skills needed to gain a thorough understanding of the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures required to administer the LINUX Operating System environment.
MPI Cabling - Copper and Fiber Optic (5560439) 2175 2275
At the current life-cycle stage of the Mail Processing Infrastructure (MPI) network, the one year warranty on the cabling installation performed under the contract has expired. The benefit of having trained staff provides sites with the necessary skilled maintenance personnel to make timely and reliable repairs to the current MPI cabling and perform retrofits that support the future growth of the MPI. According to MMO 086-08: Work performed on the infrastructure fiber or copper cabling and related components shall only be performed by technicians who have successfully completed NCED CAT-6 training, or possess CAT-6 certification. Sites not possessing personnel with either of these requirements are encouraged to seek infrastructure installation services from outside service providers.
MPI Cabling - E-learning Prereq-WBT (5660105) Call Call
This course is a pre-requisite for the MPI Cabling  Combined Copper and Fiber Optic resident course. The USPS relies on the (MPI) to provide timely, reliable and accurate mail processing. The physical growth and convergence of new equipment and technology into the (MPI) network is making it increasingly important for field technicians to have the knowledge of cabling components and the skills necessary to maintain the system. Network Troubleshooting Basics (5560227) 925 975
Network Troubleshooting Basics is specifically designed for individuals with little or no networking experience that want hands-on experience identifying network problems, evaluating solutions and making repairs. This course uses several common operating systems: Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Participants will use a network map, ping utility, check software configurations, use cable testers and identify hardware problems. Recommended Prerequisite: A+ Computer Fundamentals 32601-43

This course uses CompTIA Network+ training materials to introduce the student to networking principles and lays the foundation for core networking concepts. The program is very beneficial for any postal maintenance or information systems personnel involved with network installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. This course is complementary to NTB 5560227 which provides more hands-on training identifying network problems, evaluating solutions and making repairs. This course is designed to provide the skills needed to gain a thorough understanding of the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures required to administer the LINUX Operating System environment.
Microsoft Config and Troubleshooting (3260410) 1825 1925
This course provides students with the knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to install, configure, troubleshoot, restore and recover Microsoft server and client computers. This course also provides extensive daily labs in the areas mentioned above on Windows NT Server, 2000 Professional, 2000 Advanced Server, XP Professional and 2003 Enterprise Server utilizing built-in and 3rd party applications. The labs, lectures and activities are based on the U.S. Postal Service implementation of these devices and technologies in relation to administration and mail processing. The course format provides anywhere from 2-3 hours of lecture, 4-5 hours of labs and 1 hour of self-study daily.

The six day Office XP Survival Skills course combines lecture with hands-on workshops. The supervised workshops will afford each attendee the opportunity to reinforce information presented during each lecture. Microsoft Office XP programs presented are Windows XP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Other topic areas include Internet access and WinZip. The course will concentrate on the needs of a business user who wishes to acquire software skills or become more proficient and effective in the use of Microsoft Office XP.
Oracle SQL and SQL Plus Foundation (3260136) 2050 2175
