Network Troubleshooting Basics

 

 

Description

Network Troubleshooting Basics is specifically designed for individuals with some, little or no networking experience. Students will obtain hands-on training to identify network problems, evaluate solutions and make repairs. Various editions of the Microsoft Windows Operating System used, including Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Participants will troubleshoot over 27 network problems by using a network map, software utilities, link lights and various cable testers. Software topics covered are configurations: • IP Addresses and Subnet Masks • Default Gateways, Domain Name Servers (DNS) and Proxy Servers • Network Protocols and Utilities Hardware topics included are: • Hubs, switches and routers • Network Interface Cards (NICs) • Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) , Coaxial & Fiber cabling

 

Learning Outcome

 Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Acquire extensive hands-on troubleshooting experience.
  • Obtain knowledge and comprehension of network terminology.
  • Understand how to configure a Microsoft Windows Network Operating System.

 

Target Audience

Anyone interested in increasing their understanding of a computer network or are responsible for maintaining a computer network. This course is extremely beneficial for personnel that use a computer network and are frustrated by the common network problems that can occur in a Windows environment.

 

Course Completion Requirements

This course requires the student to: attend all training days, complete required tasks and pass the final examination and lab with a minimum score of 72%.
