Network Infrastructure Cabling-Copper & Fiber
Description
This course is administered by BICSI certified instructors and provides a combination of lecture and lab to present training material. Students participate in hands-on labs, including termination of 2-pair Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) and 4-pair Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cables, utilization of punch down tools to terminate type 66 terminal blocks and type 11 terminal blocks, identifications of color codes for 2-pair, 4-pair, and 25-pair cables, along with testing and troubleshooting.
Learning Outcome
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Acquire knowledge from hands-on lab exercises that is relative to the knowledge required in the field.
- Have an complete understanding of Category 6 UTP & fiber cabling specifications.
- Use the proper tools for terminating RJ-45 & fiber patch panels, and modular jacks/plugs.
- Understand the proper use of test equipment and methods used to troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling systems.
Target Audience
- Maintenance personnel, Information Systems, and other personnel responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting facility data and communication cabling.
Course Completion Requirements
This course requires the student to: attend all training days, perform all required tasks and pass the final examination.
