Natural Gas Vehicle Maintenance
Description
Students will acquire the skills to safely handle and perform proper filling procedures as well as diagnose, adjust and repair specific Natural Gas System vehicles. In addition, students will perform emission testing and evaluate each vehicle to insure the vehicle is operating within Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) specifications before it is returned to the fleet. The course will include Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cylinder inspection.
Learning Outcome
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the alternative fuel industry as it relates to the Postal Service.
- Demonstrate safety skills when servicing Natural Gas Vehicles.
- Locate and describe the system specific(Beacon,IMPCO,Mesa) operational components and fuel routing system of Natural Gas Vehicles.
- Diagnose Natural Gas Vehicle problems utilizing diagnostic charts, computers, and analyzers.
- Analyze emission test failures on Natural Gas Vehicles
Target Audience
This course is intended for the Automotive Technician, designated by the local site, to perform the required maintenance on Natural Gas Vehicles.
Course Completion Requirements
Passing this course requires the student to: attend all training days, perform all required tasks and pass the final proficiency exam.
