Elevator Maintenance for Freight Doors
Description
Elevator Maintenance for Freight Doors is a five day class covering the installation, inspection , adjustment, maintenance and troubleshooting of door systems on freight elevators.
Included in the course are lessons covering the different types of vertically slideing freight doors, the components that make up the door system, and the ASME A17.1 code requirements that apply to freight doors.
Topics include:
- Electrical Schematic Component Identification
- Door Controller Operation
- Field Wiring
- Flowcharting
- Application
This course provides the student with a systematic method to accurately identify system malfunctions and efficiently analyze control circuitry to pinpoint the exact source of the problem.
Students will perform inspections, adjustments, required maintenance, electrically troubleshoot and repair a fully functioning freight door system.
Learning Outcome
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Have knowledge of door types and construction.
- Understand code adherence for freight elevator bi-parting doors.
- Perform maintenance on freight elevator bi-parting doors.
- Perform troubleshooting and repair on freight bi-parting doors.
Target Audience
- This course is intended for personnel who are assigned or scheduled to be assigned to perform preventive maintenance on elevators, or supervisors of elevator maintenance.
Course Completion Requirements
Successful completion of this course requires 40-hours of attendance.

The following course is a recommended prerequisite for this course: Industrial Electrical Service (Course # 5568705).
