Electrical Standards
Description
This course is designed to provide the student with a survey of OSHA's electrical standards and the hazards associated with electrical installations and equipment. Emphasis is placed on electrical hazard recognition and OSHA inspection procedures. Hands-on training is provided using various types of electrical testing equipment. Topics include: • Single-phase and three-phase systems • Cord and plug connected equipment • Fixed equipment • Grounding • Ground fault circuit interrupters • Hazardous locations • Safety related work practices CONTINUING EDUCATION - 2.5/CEUs; 3.5 CMs through the Rocky Mountain Center.
Learning Outcome
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Have knowledge of electrical safety.
- Understand the theory of electricity.
- Introduction to subpart S 1910 STD.
- Knowledge of 1910.303 general requirements.
- Knowledge of 1910.304 wiring design and protection.
- Knowledge of 1910.305 wiring methods, components, and equipment general use.
- Knowledge of 1910.399 definitions.
Target Audience
Safety and environmental personnel, maintenance and electricians, FAC's anyone responsible for safety.
Course Completion Requirements
Passing this course requires the student to: attend all training days and participate in all required tasks.
