Effective Mentoring



Description


This course is designed for personnel involved in formal, or informal, mentoring programs as mentors. Participants will explore the mentoring process (from the perspective of a mentor) as well as design a custom mentoring action plan. Students will: • Discuss the skills required to be effective in the mentoring process • Explore communication methods • Develop a mentoring plan • Conduct an appraisal of class participants mentoring skills


Learning Outcome


Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:


  • Define mentoring.
  • Identify the elements of a mentoring relationship.
  • Articulate and assess the value of mentoring programs.
  • Develop a comprehensive mentoring action plan.

Target Audience


  • Current and potential mentors involved in developing employees for leadership positions.

Course Completion Requirements


Passing this course requires the student to: attend all training days and participate in all required tasks.
