This course provides an overview of the technical skills required in the areas of building equipment maintenance and operation. 

Emphasis is placed on:

  • Safety
  • National Electrical Code
  • Elevators
  • Building Controls
  • Roofs
  • Small and Large Heating Systems
  • Small and Large Cooling Systems
  • Roof Top HVAC
  • Heat Pumps
  • EPA Considerations and Responsibilities
  • Preventative, Predictive and Breakdown Maintenance

Learning Outcome


Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:


  • Understand the operation and maintenance vocabulary of Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Elevator, Roof and the National Electrical Code crafts.

Target Audience


  • Maintenance Managers and Supervisors responsible for the maintenance of any Postal facility.

Course Completion Requirements


Successful completion of this course requires 32-hours of attendance.
