Description

This course covers principles of operation on the computer controlled engine and emission systems found in 1997 through 2000 OBD II vehicles. Course content includes: Troubleshooting, servicing and repairing electronic systems circuits and components, using and interpreting test equipment, analyzing engine performance, and drivability diagnosis. General safety rules and regulations including shop safety practices are covered. Service methods and repair procedures, coupled with personal safety, are covered. Classroom presentations and laboratory exercises include the following: 1. No-Start diagnosis 2. Trouble codes 3. Drivability diagnostics.

 

Learning Outcome

 Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Locate the OBD II monitored components and systems on EEC-V engine management systems.
  • Diagnose OBD II system concerns using appropriate test equipment, repair publication, and the symptom-to-system-to-component-to-cause diagnostic technique.
  • Correctly perform repair procedures on vehicle equipped with OBD II systems

 

Target Audience

Vehicle maintenance Analysts, Lead mechanics, and other selected maintenance personnel.

 

Course Completion Requirements

Passing this course requires the student to: attend all training days, perform all required tasks and pass the final examination.
