Basic Allen-Bradley Programming
Description
This course covers basic programmable logic controller ladder logic instructions and basic programming techniques utilizing the AB RSLogix 500 software. Students will learn step-by-step procedures for approaching and completing a programming task as well as editing existing programs. This includes: • Detailed training on 48 instructions to include bit level • Timer/counter • Comparison • Arithmetic • Logic • Data manipulation • Program control operations.
Learning Outcome
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Using an Allen-Bradley programmable logic controller, a personal computer with RSLogix software and a Machine Specification, the student will prepare, develop, download, test and print reports for a program that demonstrates functional understanding of the following 48 PLC instructions.
- Bit Level Instructions: OSF, OSR, OTE, OTL, OUT, XIC, XIO
- Timer and Counter Instructions: CTD, CTU, RES, RTO, TOF, TON
- Compare Instructions: EQU, GEQ, GRT, LEQ, LES, LIM, MEQ, NEQ
- Arithmetic Instructions: ABS, ADD, CPT, DIV, FRD, MUL, NEG, SQR, SUB, TOD, XPY
- Move/Logical Instructions: AND, CLR, COP, CPW, FLL, MOV, MVM, NOT, OR, XOR
- Program Control Instructions: JMP, JSR, LBL, MCR, RET, SBR
Target Audience
Maintenance personnel working with Allen-Bradley PLCs.
