Analytical Troubleshooting

Description

In this course, students use computer simulation of five different circuits to practice up to 60 problems. Analytical Troubleshooting (ATS) involves the use of a DVOM trainer, on the student's desk, to locate opens and shorts to ground. Accurate documentation is stressed as the student follows the troubleshooting process from beginning to end for each problem. The correct troubleshooting answer is a result of proper application of the troubleshooting process.

Key elements of ATS are:

 • Fast paced

 • A maximum of 12 students per class

 • 75% of class time is hands-on activity

 • One-on-one tutoring

 • Emphasis on logical, methodical troubleshooting using accurate documentation and selective testing.

Learning Outcome

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Identify basic electrical and electronic symbols.
  • Understand basic electrical and electronic terminology.
  • Interpret schematic drawings.
  • Utilize the ATS troubleshooting process and troubleshoot a circuit using a voltmeter.
  • Utilize the ATS troubleshooting process and troubleshoot a circuit using a ohmmeter.
