Air Brakes
Description
This is a competency-based course. Course content includes the most commonly found tasks that a technician could encounter in routine air brake and air starter service. These tasks are described in classroom training materials and occasionally aided with video presentations. The course will introduce students to the regulations for Brake Safety, Hazardous Waste, and includes the heat effects on asbestos. Students will acquire proficiency from performing practice tasks before the final examination, thus allowing the learner to qualify as a "Brake Inspector" per D.O.T. Regulation (49 CFR, Sec. 396.35). This qualification includes air brake inspection, service, maintenance, and repair.
